My Soul Cries

"As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God."  Psalm 42:1-2

It's been a very long, tired week.  And I mean tired.  After a wonderful weekend last weekend, it seems that our whole household has just been tired.  We've been sleeping extra, not doing a whole lot, and overall, we've just felt a little...off.  I woke up singing this song this morning, and it's beginning to dawn on me, maybe, why we've been feeling so tired.

Our souls are longing.  We spent the weekend engulfed in worship to the King, hearing some amazing words of encouragement and direction, and just enjoying being in His Presence, and now that we're in the normal everyday, our souls are missing the weekend.

Or we could just be tired.  :)  But it's lovely to think that maybe we're just missing spending time with the family of God, praising and worshipping our Father in Heaven.

But God wants us to want Him every hour of every day.  And scripture says that if we, the people to whom he has given the earth, will not desire Him, that even the rocks will cry out to God.

"But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”  Luke 19:40

Could it be, that when we're in the midst of having an off day, one of those days where it seems like something is missing, that maybe what we're missing is time with Him?  Maybe that's all we need to fix that off feeling.  Maybe when we find ourselves slightly out of sink, or out of normal, we need to pause.  We need to take just a few minutes out of our day and spend time with Him.  Spend time talking to Him, telling Him about our troubles, our needs, and our desires.  And tell Him how much He means to us.

I bet that would fix a lot of our off days, that precious time with our Father.
